Banner Alzheimer’s Institute gets $10 million for new continuing prevention research

TUCSON: The Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is getting $10 million for a new study that will examine ways to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

The funding, provided by the Alzheimer’s Association, GHR Foundation and Fidelity Biosciences Research Initiative, is designed to finance an Alzheimer’s Prevention Initiative trial over the next two years.

The study focuses on two separate therapies and how they may work on a specific gene — APOE-e4 — that is considered to be present in people who have an increased risk of developing the disease…
