PHOENIX: Any housing decision for downsizing boomers is primarily financial, but the growing influence of women is crucial as the housing industry ponders what sort of homes will encourage baby boomers out of their family houses.
For women, who tend to value a sense of community more strongly than men, this has big implications for housing providers.
“The men don’t actually care,” property agency Savills’ head of research, Tony Crabb says.
“For him it has to be a financial decision. For her it has to be a fair trade. She’ll make the decision based on: ‘I’m trading my house for this thing I’m moving into.’ It’s the woman who makes the decisions.”…
