Trend towards pocket size community pods

MIAMI: A trend towards pocket-style community design within Integrated Retirement Villages and Continuous Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) is now emerging.

The “pocket design principles” will be the second of ten new trends canvassed at a seminar to be held in Toronto on 24th October 2014.

The new design is changing the way residents interact with their neighbours at the pilot installation.

The project concept is attracting ‘pre-sales’ at higher levels than standard projects, and a mix of ownership and rental units forms part of the ‘close community concept’.

The Pocket Neighbourhoods, each with their own themed garden, hold about 40 cottages, with sizes ranging from 813 square foot one-bedroom homes to 1,552 square foot two bed / two bath homes.

This trend is covered in detail in the Seniors Housing & Healthcare Trends.
