Study links coffee with decreased risk of cognitive disorders

coffeeNEW YORK: A new meta analysis finds that compared to people who don’t drink coffee at all, drinking 1-2 cups per day has a significant impact on the risk of developing cognitive disorders like Alzheimer’s.

Researchers found that drinking coffee, perhaps unsurprisingly, is a good idea. Compared to people who drink less than one cup per day, people who drink 1-2 cups per day had a pooled RR of developing a cognitive disorder of 0.82. That is, compared to a non-coffee drinker, drinking 1-2 cups of coffee per day is associated with an 18% lower risk of developing something like Alzheimer’s or dementia.
