PHOENIX: Whilst as few as 15 per cent of the over 50s sector intend to downsize, here is a step by step guide for those who do not suffer from boomerang children, blended families, treasured memory syndrome, aging in place determination or ‘we shall not be moved’ attitude.

3. Remember more isn’t always better: We all have items we’re saving “just in case” the original breaks. But do you or your parent really need multiple mixing bowls? Don’t be afraid to purge duplicates. The same applies to clothing—avoid holding on to garments that no longer fit, but might “one day”.
