Seniors spend higher percentage of income on housing

HOUSTON: Annette Graham, executive director of Area Agency on Aging, said two major trends in eldercare are emerging. One spouse’s need for specialized care is making it tough for the other spouse to afford housing and overall “whether they’ve got mortgages, they own their home or they are renting, a higher and higher percentage of seniors’ income compared to the younger population is going toward the cost of housing expenses,” she said…
