Seniors housing developers compete for Global Award

NEW YORK: The fifty-first entry for the seniors housing Global Award for 2015 has been received.

The boomer house category has attracted its second short-listed candidate.

The stamp-inspired property of stamp collectors Rodney and Marider Perry was a five-year project in the rainforest designed by Port Douglas architect Charles Wright.

The six-bedroom, six-bathroom sustainable home, called Alkira, sits like a lotus on a man-made pond.

The pool is shaped like the “One Pound Jimmy” stamp and the property’s six fingers have portholes, which cast perforated light into the property, reminiscent of stamp edges…
