NEW YORK: The two hundred and fortieth entry for the seniors housing Global Award for 2015 has been received.
Karibu Homes is developing social housing units in Athi River, Kenya.
According to Lands and Housing Cabinet secretary Charity Ngilu, Kenya has an annual demand of 300,000 units but has a gaping deficit as supply is estimated at about 30,000 units yearly.
“We have a huge gap in meeting the annual demand for affordable housing,” Ngilu said.
Shelter Afrique managing director James Mugerwa said: “The housing sector will benefit largely from projects of scale; this is something that … Shelter Afrique will be involved in going forward.”
