NEW YORK: The one hundred and ninety-fourth entry for the seniors housing Global Awards 2016 has been received.
Independence Point in Lincoln Park is the first affordable housing complex in Southern California for people with developmental disabilities.
Twenty-five of the 31 units are for families with at least one member with a developmental disability, such as epilepsy, autism and cerebral palsy. Roughly 1,000 families applied to live at Independence Point, 250 of which had a family member with a disability, said the San Diego Regional Center.
The $13.5 million development was paid for by funds from federal low-income housing tax credits, the state Department of Housing and Community Development and a loan from the San Diego Housing Commission.
