Older nurses make better carers claims study

CHICAGO: Research suggests older nurses are less likely to provide inadequate care and better at balancing the competing demands of their time.

Older nurses offer a safer pair of hands than their younger colleagues, a study has revealed.

The survey by academics looked at the quality of patient care, as well as after-hours staffing levels and work intensity for nurses.

It forms part of a larger research project being undertaken by the International Network for the Study of Rationalised Care.

Nurses working in hospitals, aged and primary health care were surveyed.

They raised concerns about the prevalence of missed patient care.
