Number of skilled nursing homes declining in west but rising in east

PHOENIX: The number of skilled nursing homes in Western democracies has fallen by nearly 4 per cent over the past five years despite a sharp rise in demand for residential care for the aging population.

A new survey reveals while the number of private and voluntary skilled nursing homes has declined, the number of beds available has increased.

But in eastern/Asian countries, both skilled nursing homes and bed numbers have increased in the same period.
