SAN FRANCISCO: Factors that increase the risk of social isolation for seniors include living alone, being 80 or older, health complications, fear of stigma or ageist attitudes and a lack of access to transportation and affordable housing, claims a new report.
The report also found technology, with all its potential for inclusion, can actually increase seniors isolation because of cost and a steep learning curve.
