NEW YORK: A new lobby group for the older person is in the process of being formed.
Its guiding principles were released today.
The five objectives include:
– The development of a comprehensive strategy and action plan to create an environment that is fit for the aging society, together with a single cabinet minister responsible for its implementation.
– Joining up health and care, and properly funding a single health and care system that supports older people as far as possible in their own homes and local communities.
– Improving older people’s homes and heating and creating more housing options in later life.
– Enabling older people to get out and about with better transport, engage in meaningful activities and reduce social isolation, and
– Providing practical opportunities for people of all ages to interact and integrate and supporting the voluntary sector in all its many guises to promote older people’s contributions…
