Move to introduce 50 per cent affordable housing requirement

AUSTIN: Secret talks are being held over the possible introduction of a 50 per cent affordable housing requirement.

A new “dynamic viability model” is being canvassed.

The model “essentially tracks the market progress and then plays that back into a viability process so that we can determine what we should be delivering in terms of the viability that the market can deliver,” said a panel member.

He said that in 2009 the model suggested an affordable housing requirement of 15 per cent was realistic.

In April 2014, a turn up of 40 per cent was achieved and in April 2015 there will be an expectation of a 50 per cent increase…
