Mental illness is biggest long-term growth sector in healthcare

MIAMI: Stress and mental health disorders have risen more than any other causes of long-term sickness.

But Bariatric care is catching up. A quarter of adults are estimated to be obese and the number is expected to grow to account for more than half of the population in the next 30 years.

Already hospitals are having to buy specialist beds, wheelchairs, commodes and crutches for obese patients to help them deal with the crisis.

Skilled nursing homes will need to re-focus if they are to survive.
