Intransigence of care authorities pilloried by residents’ families

BERMUDA: The National Office for Seniors and the Physically Challenged (NOSPC) is under siege from residents’ relatives unhappy with its intransigence over placements.

NOSPC is accused of playing God and failing to respond to requests for placement flexibility.

Requests for skilled nursing home transfers are routinely rejected by the NOSPC, which works with the Community Assessment and Referral Team (Cart) and other agencies to place seniors in residential facilities. The reasons given are rarely because of a lack of beds at the state-run facilities…
