Half of all doctors go online to help diagnose patients

NEW YORK: More than half of GPs admit using Wikipedia to help diagnose patients, according to research.

One in 12, or 8 per cent, regularly use the free online encyclopedia – which anyone can edit – to aid diagnosis.

A further 44 per cent sometimes use it, the poll of 300 GPs shows.

Specialist medical websites are even more widely used, with more than 80 per cent of GPs admitting they used them sometimes or often.

The news is likely to add to criticism of GPs…
