Grant to seed affordable housing research

BOSTON: The City of Boston will receive $1.35 million from Bloomberg Philanthropies to fund the development of a Housing Innovation Lab, and take an affordable housing project from proposal to reality, the group announced today.

Boston is one of 12 cities, including Seattle, Syracuse, N.Y., and Jersey City, N.J., that made the shortlist and will be funded by Michael Bloomberg’s philanthropic arm.

In Boston, the grant will assist Mayor Martin Walsh’s plan to increase available affordable housing in Greater Boston. The Boston2030 plan, announced in October, seeks to expand Boston housing to accommodate 53,000 new housing units for senior citizens and working people in the city…
