NEW YORK: The trend to create apartments above pub redevelopments has strong appeal to the over 50s. The trend is growing in all western countries and the latest example combines with a love of cricket.
A listed late Victorian pub close to Lord’s cricket ground, where England stars would relax after Test matches, has been saved after being boarded up for a decade.
The 116-year-old Crocker’s Folly “gin palace” in St John’s Wood reopened this month.
Former England batsman Allan Lamb used to visit the pub in the Eighties with team mates Ian Botham and David Gower.
It has now reopened with three vast bars and dining rooms after a major refurbishment by new owners The Maroush Group.
The upstairs floors have been converted into flats for seniors.
