Doubts raised about economic benefits of medical tourism

INDIANAPOLIS: A new report released today challenges the economic benefits of medical tourism.

The report argues that growth has only been achieved through tax holidays, public marketing programs and infrastructure development.

The medical facilities created for travelers are private, and have no benefit for the local population. The business model needs to have more ‘local community inclusiveness’ if the sector is to grow in a sustainable way…
