Dementia care training level well below highest achievable standard

COLUMBUS: Dementia care providers do not embrace the highest possible standard of care. That is only achievable if all their staff have access to all current information, research and outcomes.

But this is being constantly denied to staff. Instead, providers hide behind nationally mandated ‘minimums’, which in exam based systems, are dated and time warped.

Knowledge is a constant, and is available via daily internet updates at low cost, but is being ignored. Knowledge empowers staff, reassures residents’ relatives and builds brand power. The care sector, simply, does not care enough…
