Bellwether of retirement community sales worldwide takes big tumble

AUSTIN: The largest retirement community in the world has suffered a 24 per cent sales slump.

The Villages sold 818 fewer homes in 2014 compared with 2013, but with 2,601 total sales last year, it still held onto the No. 1 spot as the top-selling master-planned community, according to a top-20 ranking put out by John Burns Real Estate Consulting, a research and consulting company.
