NEW YORK: Over 50s housing and care providers don’t fully appreciate the deep seated animus held by baby boomers against “age apartheid”.
Whilst the society in which they grew up was organised around age (kindergarten, school, university, old folks homes), the baby boomers ethos is individualism. Their upbringing imbued them with that overriding characteristic.
To expect them to ‘replace’ acquiescent veterans in the existing seniors housing stock is fanciful…
