Prefab homes now being pitched to over 50s market

NEW YORK: Modular housing has come a long way since it first went big in the 1970s. Here is a look at five high-design prefabricated homes from around the world being pitched to the over 50s market.

1. Cubbico’s modular homes are weather-resilient prefabs that can withstand Category 5 hurricanes, earthquakes and up to ten-feet of snow.

2. Sprouting Rocket Studio is all about mobility. The Hütte Hut prefab is a 44-square-foot mobile home that hitches to the back of a car.

3. Gluck+ assembled this 28-unit affordable housing building in Upper Manhattan in just 19 days.

4. The Mini House 2.0 is currently in development by Swedish architect Jonas Wagell. It can be built in two days and occupies a mere 160 square feet.

5. This 592-square-foot prefab by Danish firm Vipp features heated flooring and a Spartherm fireplace.

This trend is covered in detail in the Seniors Housing & Healthcare Trends.
