AUSTIN: Barbara Beskind has proven that design can be done at any age. Beskind works at a design company and is defying social norms. Beskind has been designing since she was 8 years old, but her most recent projects are focusing on those in retirement communities.
Beskind said that she first came up with the idea to design for seniors because she lives in an assisted living community.
Beskind can still sketch out her designs, including one of a pair of glasses featuring both a camera and a speaker. The glasses have the ability to tell the wearer who is approaching him or her within 10 or 12 feet.
