Severe depression linked with inflammation in the brain

CHICAGO: A new study suggests that about 30 percent inflammation in the brain is linked with clinical depression. Experts term it as Major Depressive Episode (MDE).

Inflammation is the natural response activated by our immune system to protect the body from disease and infection. For example if we got an injury on the body then the injured area becomes inflamed, and the same mechanism works with the functioning of the brain. Clinical depression may result in severe inflammation in the brain which may prove fatal. The symptoms like low mood, weight loss and anorexia may be acquired due to inflammation in the brain. The new study is on its way to investigate association between brain inflammation and clinical depression or it occurs due to other body injuries…
