Housing estate planned for baby boomers to share with first home buyers

NEW YORK: A developer is planning a multigenerational neighbourhood of more than 1,000 homes, apartments and townhouses.

The 200-acre complex with a variety of urban living options is intended to appeal to retired baby boomers, and first home buyers.

The estate will include sidewalks, businesses, and green space in an all-inclusive style of neighbourhood development.

With houses as compact as around 1,000 square feet in some cases, the project would be targeted at retired baby boomers as well as first-time home buyers who want a small property requiring less maintenance.

Plans also call for two senior centers offering independent living or assisted care, along with commercial development.

Initial plans describe more than 500 single-family homes, 480 apartments, 200 townhomes, 280 senior living units and about 50 acres of green space…

This trend is covered in detail in the Seniors Housing Trends Text Book Series
