BOSTON: The first purpose-built residence to provide specialized care for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease already has a shovel in the ground.
It will fill a critical need in the community when it is finished next June, as the number of people who need this type of secure care locally continues to grow.
Highview Residences and Inspirit Residences are building on a successful model for advanced dementia care they’ve already established in London, Ont.
Joy Birch, chief operating officer of Highview Residences, said the Waterloo Region market was identified as underserviced in trying to maintain a home-like environment for its residents while also providing respite care and peace of mind for the families.
