Alzheimer’s group misusing statistics to build fear to garner funds

PINOCCHIO_2731260kNEW YORK: An Alzheimer’s organisation is calling on Government to join forces with the private sector to invest in a sustained public awareness campaign.

“There needs to be a massive shift in understanding to ensure everyone is better equipped to recognise the early signs, know where to seek information and support, and maintain the best quality of life possible when living with a dementia diagnosis,” said its chief executive.

“An increased awareness about dementia will result in reducing the stigma, reducing the social isolation, getting people talking about it and seeking help earlier,” she added.

Then she claimed that dementia is forecast to grow 300 per cent by 2050…
