MIAMI: The divorce rate amongst people over the age 50 is going up despite the overall decline in divorce rate as people get married at a later age, wait for their children to grow up and stay in the workforce for longer.
One in three divorces now involves a husband over the age of 50 and one in four involves a wife over the age of 50, according to the latest figures from the Australian Institute of Family Studies.
In comparison, in 2000 only 23 per cent of divorces involved a husband aged 50 years or older and 15 per cent a wife aged 50 years or older…..
