Is supported living for elderly a home-from-home or a ghetto?

elderly ghettoDALLAS: A study by the International Longevity Centre ILC-UK shows that pensioners in retirement communities are less likely to feel lonely than those still living in their own homes.

The study also shows despite fears about moving into special accommodation, people who took the step were more likely to feel in “control” of their lives than those the same age outside.

There is a big step to be made from those findings to the conclusion that an early move into supported living will extend your life, and the ILC is not making it…
