CHICAGO: A potentially life-changing app for sufferers of dementia has been developed by four graduates.
Mind Mate is the brainchild of Mexican entrepreneur Rogelio Arellano who has worked with Patrick Renner, Susanne Mitschke and Gabriela Matic to build an interactive app that helps sufferers of dementia and their carers.
The concept – likened to a “digital nurse” – uses lists, memory aids, brain-training games and access to medical information to help patients stay on top of their daily lives and allow carers, friends and family to help them, in some cases remotely.
The idea stemmed from the experiences of Mr Arellano and his own grandfather, who suffers from the disease. He realised there were few resources for patients and decided to create his own.
