Seniors residents divided over conditions court case

equityCHICAGO: Lawyers for several residents and the building’s owner have to go over a proposed financial plan to renovate the violation-plagued senior housing complex.

A hearing involving the owner and seven residents was scheduled for July 29 but postponed. In its place is expected to be a hearing by phone.

“It was supposed to be a hearing and oral arguments, but for various reasons it was switched. We all felt like we needed more time,” said one resident.

One pensioner said in an interview last week that the plan would remedy much of the building’s issues, including replacing the roof and other structural and cosmetic problems throughout the building. Currently there are about 60 seniors living in the building…
