Seniors housing developers compete for Global Award

trophy1 NEW YORK: The nine hundred and ninety-sixth entry for the seniors housing Global Awards for 2015 has been received.

Five months after celebrating its grand opening, Bonita Springs’ American House, a 130-unit senior living facility south of East Terry Street and west of Imperial Parkway, announced Wednesday that it has started construction on 88 additional rental apartments.

The expansion marks the third phase of the project and will bump the community’s number of independent living units to a total of 110. The new three-story building, which sits on 26 acres at 11400 Longfellow Lane, is expected to open December 2016, said Bob Gillette, founder of Michigan-based American House.
