Seniors housing developers compete for Global Award

trophy NEW YORK: The two hundred and seventy-seventh entry for the seniors housing Global Awards 2016 has been received.

Although few details about 247 Cherry have been confirmed, the first renderings show an exterior that is a contemporary mix of terracotta brick and glass. As far as residential space, the tower will offer studios as well as one- and two- bedroom units. The affordable housing units will be scattered throughout the building, eliminating even the possibility of a poor door situation.

The site was purchased by JDS for $51 million from the Two Bridges Neighborhood Council and Settlement Housing Fund. According to Alexa Sewell of Settlement Housing Fund, the majority of the money will go to the nonprofit organizations to “better capitalize our organizations—so that we can get out and continue doing the kind of affordable housing and community development work that we do.”
