Seniors housing developers compete for Global Award

trophy NEW YORK: The one hundred and twenty-seventh entry for the seniors housing Global Awards 2016 has been received.

Developer Shea Homes hopes the second time’s a charm for a proposal to build “active adult” housing on part of the St. John’s Seminary property in Camarillo.

Shea requested a change to the city’s general plan to allow 270 to 300 duplexes and single-family homes for adults 50 and older. The property’s land-use designation would change from natural open space and agriculture to residential and quasi-public.

The Camarillo City Council unanimously agreed, after a meeting of more than two hours last week.
