DALLAS: The chief executive of Manchester City Council has said local housing associations face a “big challenge” to rethink the role of social rented housing.
At Housing 2016, Howard Bernstein questioned whether people in employment should live in social rented housing throughout their lives.
He said: “Do we want to see people who are working, in a subsidised house for their entire lifetimes? Is there a way of developing better incentives so that people who can afford it can own their own house?”…
