DALLAS: For David Humphrey, playing a key role in the creation of a world class brain research centre brings personal as well as professional satisfaction.
The 40-year-old from Newport, who works for BAM Construction in Cardiff, was design manager for the new Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC).
And Mr Humphrey, who lives with multiple sclerosis, is also taking part in on ongoing Multiple Sclerosis Society UK-funded CUBRIC study, as a volunteer at the Helen Durham Centre for Neuro-inflammatory Disease at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
CUBRIC, which has cost £44 million, provides scientists with the best neuro-imaging equipment in the world to help their work on unravelling the mysteries of the human brain.
The centre will focus on providing fresh insights into the causes of neurological and psychiatric conditions such as dementia, schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis, in addition to understanding the workings of the normal, healthy brain…
