HOUSTON: A woman is suing a skilled nursing home where she says her mother received substandard care.
In a statement of claim, the daughter claims caregivers unilaterally reduced the dosage of a laxative a doctor prescribed her mother.
She says she was never informed of the change.
“My mother got totally constipated. And they never told me they cut her meds down. If they had have told me, I would have insisted they put it back, and I certainly would have discussed it with a doctor. I wouldn’t have allowed it to happen,” she said.
The statement of claim alleges those changes had serious health consequences.
The lawsuit also alleges caregivers did not properly secure, change or clean her mother’s urinary catheter, causing her pain and suffering.
The daughter is also claiming compensation for lost wages stemming from the stress around her mother’s care.
The claims are yet to be tested in court…
