Lifestyle villages needed as demand is set to soar

retirement PHOENIX: The number of retirement communities in the Hunter will need to double over the next 15 years if demand from a ‘‘tsunami’’ of aging baby boomers is to be met, a forum in Newcastle was told on Friday.

And retirees don’t want the regular retirement community to call home, they want upmarket ‘‘lifestyle villages’’ surrounded by services and room to entertain the grandkids.

The Property Council’s Hunter chapter hosted the ‘‘retirement living luncheon’’ at a packed City Hall on Friday to discuss what is now the biggest growth sector in the property development market…..
