Dow Rummel plans $40m expansion of assisted living community

PHOENIX: A Sioux Falls retirement community is trying to get ahead of an Alzheimer’s epidemic among the baby boom generation with a $40 million expansion that will beef up its memory care and assisted living services.

Medical researchers expect 28 million or more baby boomers to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s before the end of their lives, adding demand for memory care providers nationwide. And in South Dakota, the number of senior citizens living with the disease is expected to jump by nearly 20 percent in the next eight years, according to Alzheimer’s Association, a non-profit advocacy group….
