Blood pressure drug could be answer to Alzheimer’s disease

bloodSAN FRANCISCO: Scientists in Bristol are testing a drug which they hope could be the silver bullet in curing or drastically reducing the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

The tablet, called losartan, was first developed in the early 1990s to help patients with high blood pressure.

Researchers at Bristol University now believe the medication could help to stop dangerous proteins growing in the brain which cause lots of the effects of dementia such as memory loss.

The ground-breaking trial is based in Bristol but has several centres dotted across the country…
