Age care compounds becoming soft crime targets

crimeCHICAGO: Retirement communities and skilled nursing homes imply a level of elevated safety in their commercial pitch to prospective customers.

But evidence is mounting that age-apartheid compounds are increasingly becoming soft crime targets and the care sector is trashing its reputation by doing nothing to effectively counter the growing threat:

335: Cries for help were repeatedly ignored at a skilled nursing home during a visit from care quality inspectors in April.

The newly-published report into standards explained how staff didn’t respond to one resident in ‘very obvious distress’ at the home during a visit by three inspectors.

Their shouts of “please help me” and “help me please” were repeatedly ignored by staff and, when approached by inspectors, a staff member said they were too busy dealing with another resident to help…
