But evidence is mounting that age-apartheid compounds are increasingly becoming soft crime targets and the care sector is trashing its reputation by doing nothing to effectively counter the growing threat:

279: Four more skilled nursing homes have been ordered to make improvements after inspectors raised concerns about the safety of residents.

The news comes a week after inspectors said two other skilled nursing homes were not up to standard and only months after the owners insisted the system was not in crisis.
