But evidence is mounting that age-apartheid compounds are increasingly becoming soft crime targets and the care sector is trashing its reputation by doing nothing to effectively counter the growing threat:

275: A squalid skilled nursing home with an “overpowering” smell of urine has been ordered to make urgent improvements.

Inspectors laid into the skilled nursing home after it failed an unannounced spot-check.

A report branded the home “inadequate” in all five inspection categories – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-fed.
