OECD report on new policy options for housing elderly in urban environment

PHOENIX: The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has released a report on the housing challenges being faced by the elderly living in urban environments.

The report looks at how various cities are coping with the challenge.

7. In Yokohama, where 22 per cent of residents are 65 or older, the working-age population is falling, shrinking the tax base. The city is trying to attract younger families, including cutting the number of kids on child-care waitlists to zero.
