A yogurt a day could relieve depression

HOUSTON: It appears that certain probiotic bacteria could help ease depression. Scientists found that people who took probiotic supplements were less likely to suffer from black moods.

In a triple-blind, placebo-controlled test, 20 healthy participants without a mood disorder received a four-week probiotic food-supplement, while 20 control participants received a placebo for the same period. In the assessment, cognitive reactions were assessed.

Compared to participants who received the placebo intervention, participants who received the probiotics showed a significant reduction in negative and aggressive thoughts and were less likely to ruminate…
