Report highlights most common care violations in assisted living

AUSTIN: A new report from an assisted living association claims that the rate of compliance has improved, and that deficiencies are on the wane. The five areas of improvement were reported as being:

3. Safer and more secure storage of medications and hazardous materials.

Most regulations state that medications must be appropriately secured, with extra requirements surrounding controlled substances. Similar standards exist for the storage of “hazardous materials,” which includes items like cleaning products. An annual improvement of 10% was observed in this facet of regulatory compliance.
