WASHINGTON, D.C.: Retirement age “should be when someone chooses to retire”, said a Government minister last night.
The Government is preparing a statement that will stress the importance of older workers and say that the Government will “do more to help people stay in work longer”.
Ministers believe that the retirement age needs to increase dramatically to reflect an aging population and to avoid a health care crisis.
