Feeling dizzy a few minutes after standing up could signal increased death risk

dizzyLOS ANGELES: Feeling dizzy a few minutes after standing up could be a sign of an increased risk of early death, Parkinson’s disease or dementia, a Study has found.

Faintness and light-headednesss after standing can be a minor problem due to a sudden drop in blood pressure, caused by dehydration or medication.

But when it happens often – and at least three minutes after standing up- it can be a sign of a more serious condition, researchers warned.

The study of 165 people, with an average age of 59, found that those who suffered “delayed orthostatic hypotension” – which is shown by dizziness, within minutes of a drop in blood pressure – had far higher death rates and significantly increased rates of degenerative brain diseases…
